The boys of the Dave Matthews Band have been exhaustively traveling around the country. Their current tour focuses on the latest collection of songs from the 2009 album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, although you can bet that many ballads from their extensive catalog are also on the set lists. DMB fans are scrambling to get tickets, and with good reason.

The group recently announced that they are ready for a long break, leaving 2011 off of their touring schedule. It will be a long time before you'll get to see DMB live on stage again, so be sure to visit StubHub and purchase your own pair of Dave Matthews Band tickets as soon as possible.

The band has several dates booked throughout the month of August including stops in Wichita, Kan.; Chula Vista, Calif.; Irvine, Calif.; Los Angeles, Calif. and Boise, Idaho. The last two dates on their U.S. tour are scheduled for Sept. 17 and 18 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill. Jason Mraz will serve as the opener for both performances.

In other related news, Dave Matthews became the latest musician to publicly sign onto the Global Zero movement, which has a goal of eliminating nuclear weapons from the planet. According to washingtonscene.thehill.com, other well-known artists that have also joined the cause include Macy Gray, Trent Reznor, Michael Bolton, R.E.M., Maroon 5, Pearl Jam, Michael Franti and Weezer.

The Dave Matthews Band formed in the early 1990s with South African guitarist and vocalist Dave Matthews at the helm. Other musicians eventually rounded out the group including bassist Stefan Lessard, saxophonist LeRoi Moore, violinist Boyd Tinsley and drummer Carter Beauford. At first the group found themselves the talk amongst the college crowd and they made the rounds on university campuses around the nation.

The band's debut effort, Under the Table and Dreaming, was released in 1994 and set DMB off on a good foot spawning the singles "What Would You Say," "Ants Marching" and "Satellite." The record launched them into the mainstream and soon enough they expanded their travels beyond college campuses, selling out stadiums and arenas.

1996's Crash was also an immediate success and reached the number two spot on the charts. The single "Crash into Me" earned the group a Grammy nomination, solidifying their status as rising stars. Their next studio album was 1998's Before These Crowded Streets and it is considered by many music critics to be one of their most ambitious efforts.

In the 2000s, the band has also released a slew of albums including Everyday, Busted Stuff, Stand Up and finally Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. In addition to their studio albums, the band has also found success with several live releases, including Live at Red Rocks, Live at Luther College, Live at Radio City Music Hall and Live at Piedmont Park.

The Dave Matthews Band has barely paused for breath over the past couple of decades and finally they will get a much deserved break, even if that means we'll have to wait a little longer for another live show.
