There are a lot of different factors out there which separate good courier companies from the bad. One of the most important factors that you can look for to tell you how good your Santa Clarita delivery company is, and how good of service they will provide you, is what their policies are concerning the updating of customers with the status of their deliveries. Customers want to know the status of deliveries at almost all times, that is just the nature of business. The courier that goes the extra mile to make sure that happens is one that you will often want to do business with.

In the past, couriers had some legitimate reasons for claiming that it was impossible to keep customers notified of every little status hiccup that shipment might experience, and they often used this as an excuse to not provide any notifications at all. However, the improvement of communication technology has completely invalidated this argument. Courier companies are now in constant communication with their drivers through a variety of different methods. This means that they will know almost immediately if something happens to your shipment that you should know about.

It should be said that customers doesn't expect couriers to notify them with standard status updates. That is what self checking status systems are for. Either using a telephone or an online system most couriers have a way for customers to simply enter a reference number and find out where their package is. Sometimes, this can be a real time GPS result with the new GPS tracking features that many couriers feature. Instead, customers need to be notified directly only when something out of the ordinary happens.

There are many things which might happen to a courier that could end up causing a delay to your shipment. Most common among these are traffic accidents, including flat tires, and delays caused due to weather. If either of these situations should occur, a good courier will get in touch with you directly letting you know that your shipment is going to be late. When they do that, you then have time to let your own clients know about the delay.

The other time your client should contact you with a status update is when the package has been successfully delivered. The best couriers out there have programs in place to provide you with instant delivery notification so that you will know as soon as the shipment has been completed.
